PostSubject: Homemade Facial Masks   Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:11 pm

I was looking through some online sites about homemade facial masks, and came upon some of these:

(I haven't tried these)
Papaya: Smash the papaya and apply it onto your face. Great for acne.
Cucumber juice with a few drops of lemon juice: Whitens the face to get rid of skin blemishes.

Egg White with salt: Tightens pores. Supposedly gets rid of blackheads.
I tried it, but I didn't apply it long enough. It does tighten your pores, but I only did it once, so I am not too sure. It has a horrible raw eggy smell, though. xD
Oatmeal with milk and honey: For oily skin. Facial cleanser.
It makes my face feel really clean afterwards.

Apply all of the above for 10-15 minutes and then wash off with warm water and then splash your face with cold water to close the pores. Next apply moisturizer.

Before applying facial masks, remember to wash your face with warm water to open the pores.

I have tried avocado (which is pretty weird) as a face mask and your skin looks very nice afterwards! I love it! I have also used soap with sugar, you can use that as a micro-defrabrasion technique (to remove old cells) and it works perfect!

Avacado might be nice to give you soft skin, but that's because it's full of oil, so be careful. I like to use makup that has a feture that imporves your skin, so that way you do it every day, without really thinking about it.

Oh yeah.. XD If you're prone to zits, I don't think using stuff that clogs your pores are very good.

But the facial care line DHC uses extra virgin olive oil for their products, and it's supposed to help soften and moisturize the skin.

Even with oily skin, it's still important to moisturize!

And always drink plenty of water.

I heard about avocado, it has lots of E, A vitamins so i guess thats why its good for the skin. for oily skin my friend uses yeast mask, she mix instant yeast with some water to make a soft paste ... i tried it once, was so itchy and i end up getting more pimples :(

Nourishing face mask for dry skin
Ingredients

2 oz/60g ripe avocado flesh
1 oz/25g orange juice
1 tsp/5g pure honey
1 tsp/5g molasses
5 drops chamomile essential oil
How to make

Put all the ingredients in a blender, or mash by hand in a bowl. Add extra orange juice if the mixture is too thick. Use your fingers to spread the mask over your face and neck and leave it on for at least 30 minutes, preferably longer, before removing. Use a warm flannel to rinse off the mask - this will help gently exfoliate skin as well as clean your face. This mask will keep for a day or two in the fridge if you don't use it all.

I got this from this site.

If you don't have chamomile oil, you can replace it with extra virgin olive oil or egg yolk. Egg yolk is used for dry skin.

I had oily/dry skin combination before and found out it was because I washed my face with scented bar soap (never do this!!). If you wash your face with bar soap, use the unscented kinds for sensitive skin. XD Or better yet, don't use it at all.

Now I just wash my face with water and drink a lot of water. I also use the oatmeal facial on the first post twice a week. That's good for oily skin.

If you want to buy products, just buy unscented moisturizer from the stores.

I think it's good that you don't go out in the sun. The sun damages your skin.

Lemon juice makes your skin lighter, but you should apply it with other juices or else it irritates your skin.

I've always wanted to try a homemade facial but I too never have many of the ingredients at home.
Perhaps I'll come up with a resolution and get my lazy butt to the store
:)
thanks for sharing!

Hmm I never really thought about using homemade facial masks. I might give it a try, though hopefully it won't smell. The ones that are posted here seem to have very few ingredients which is good cause usually I dislike having to go to the store to buy ingredients for one time use.
