Your hair.........sounds like mine XD!

Do you comb your hair? Or do you brush it?

If you brush it........STOP RIGHT NOW! Your hair CANNOT take the brush, from what you described, your hair sounds thick and wavy, a brush only does the surface of it.......and not a very good one at that. I recommend finding a shampoo that works well with your hair, i.e doesn't dry it out, leaves it nice and shiny, doesn't make it all dandufr-y. I use Panteen and it works great, (conditioner and shampoo) although my sister uses Garnier. Also, make sure to eat your veggies! As that is also the key to lovely hair. And about your question to growing out your hair, that won't do anything. It will just be long and fluffy, but in a bad way.

Also, your right not to straighten your hair so often, that will damage and make it very weak.

Hope that helps!

okay so i had the same problem as you when i was in 6th grade. granted that was like uh...a long time ago >.>;;

ANYWAY, i used to use Fantasia's Anti-Frizz hair serum and it worked wonders for me. Additionally, if I was going to straighten my hair, I would combine it with Fantasia's Heat protecting serum to help protect it from the damage from the hair straightener.

Now I use Redken's Smoothing Down cream. It leaves my hair super soft. But I still recommend the other two products. When I leave my hair curly, I would use the anti-frizz serum and then hair mousse. Now I use Redken's All Curls cream and just a smidge of hair mousse.

Also it depends on the hair straightener. I have the Chi, which is a ceramic iron. Now, all the things that I have mentioned, except for the Fantasia serums, are expensive. The Redken creams are about 15 dollars and the straightener, depending on where you go can run up anywhere from 100 to 200 dollars.

Also if you use an ionized hair dryer, it can lessen the frizz. Additionally, if you have curly hair, it's best to invest on a dryer that has a diffuser attachment for your curls.

umm... it's a pain to have long hair. your head feels heavy and it gets tangly easier as well. it's probably better to keep short hair, but your choice. you can go to a hair salon and ask them to thin out your hair by having it layered.
